Goh’s ascended as Deputy Director-General due to his vast experience across many fields and knowledgeableness. Studiousness and curiosity were his greatest strengths, making him an ideal Deputy Director-General who could oversee the entire research and competitiveness component of MPC. As Deputy Director-General, Goh was always clear with the organisation’s objective and endeavoured to meet them. Having clear objectives that employees could strive towards was especially important. “If you are clear with your objectives, you can explain them to anyone from staff to stakeholders,” Goh explained. “It is also noteworthy to explain the reasons behind the objectives you set. This demonstrates transparency and creates trust.”
