Going Seamless Boosts Customer Traffic

“We are seeing an online-to-offline (O2O) revolution that changes the way people shop. Ultimately, consumers expect a seamless shopping experience across various channels that can be accessed whenever and however they choose. The idea is to enhance customer shopping experience and retailers that do not meet these expectations will lose traffic. We want to simplify and personalize the shopping experience for our customers. We want them to continue coming into our stores to view our products and make a purchase anywhere, anytime, by paying online via their smartphones or tablets. Ultimately, we want to scale up deliveries, with each store being able to fulfill thousands of orders a day," Mr Lim Kim Heng, Managing Director, Senheng Electric (KL) Sdn Bhd.

Innovation in Work Process Towards High Performance

A new equipment, CE1 was invented to replace the existing segregator machine. The sketch and fabrication of a prototype portable loose fruit segregator were made by Chaah Estate’s workshop supervisor based on the need and work environment. This improvement project brought about improvements to the estate operations. The cost of handling loose fruit which was initially recorded at RM6.87/MT was reduced to RM 3.49/MT. This was a reduction of 49% of the actual cost. The cost of loose fruit collection which was previously at RM17/MT also showed an extensive reduction to RM8/MT and is noted as another accomplishment.

Further Enhancing A Systematic Transportation Network

ICC managed to reduce the total ‘service disruption’ to 20 cases in April 2016. This achievement brought laurels to the team as they were close in meeting the earlier targeted number which was 23 cases. Not only that, one of Rapid Rail’s major successes recorded a total saving of RM1,386,555.50 through this project. Rapid Rail would have spent an amount of RM1,597,639 for new LIM Fans if the ICC Project was not a success.
