The importance of LEAN management at the timber industry of Malaysia

May 2016 : YBhg. Dr. Jalaludin Harun, Director-General of Malaysian Timber Industry Board (MTIB) shared his thoughts on how Lean is able to enhance productivity and reduce wastages at the firm level. The collaboration between MPC and MTIB in lean implementation at 14 furniture manufacturers managed to reduce waiting time and reject rate by 5,000 hours and 60 percent respectively. This initiative is able to address the issue of high foreign worker dependency in the timber industry.
