Embracing Industry 4.0 Automation Solutions for Better Outcomes

“For a company to successfully migrate to Industry 4.0, it is crucial to have a top-down mind set change in terms of commitment, focus, direction and value add. Hiring the right people and training them is very important. A trained and skilled workforce can operate and maintain the smart machines efficiently to prevent breakdown and production downtime. Information flow is another important factor, as the faster information is obtained, the faster the management can make informed decisions. In fact, Pentamaster uses cloud computing technology to save all its data into the server. We have a solid analytic software known as Manufacturing Execution System for protocol data analysis,” Mr. Chuah Choon Bin, Non-Executive Chairman, Pentamaster Corporation Berhad.

Rosfaniaga's Secret Recipe for Success

“Relationship between the different units in the company is closer than before and everyone is moving towards improvement in the company. I am delighted that more new ideas were submitted by workers and they are more adept at problem-solving. Most solutions came from the operators themselves. Before implementing Lean, I have to constantly seek information from my workers. Now, I was overwhelmed by the amount of information submitted to me. I have yet to submit any improvement ideas after Lean implementation since I was bombarded with tons of improvement ideas from my workers after Lean.” Fatimah Abdul Hamid, Managing Director, Rosfaniaga Services Sdn Bhd

“For me, accounting is a complicated subject. But, once I learn about Wave, I realize I can actually do accounting without prior experience in the field. It does not mean that accounting is an easy feat for a non-accountant but the steps in Wave can be easily followed and the Wave community is pretty helpful in the learning process” – Mariani binti Rosily, admin and account executive, Rosfaniaga Services Sdn Bhd.

Stairway to Industry 4.0 - The SMEs Tale

SME owners are aware of the understanding that industry 4.0 revolves around automation and machine-to-machine (M2M) communication which is not wrong but not right either. Industry 4.0 is more than that. But, due to the misunderstanding, many gave up before they even try. For change to happen, SMEs need to take a leap of faith and change themselves. There is no need to take a big leap, just one small step is enough as long as the step is consistent and persistent.
