As the nation is moving towards the status of a developed country, many interested individuals and organisations are looking for opportunities to develop their projects on strategically located lands. Enticing as it may sound, the lengthy albeit necessary processes ensure the rights of land owners are preserved, as stipulated in Article 13 under the Federal Constitution. The supreme law exists to ensure that land owners are protected from being taken advantage by irresponsible parties and see to it that the owners are adequately compensated for their lands. Recently, PTG Johor accomplished a phenomenal feat which involved seven villages spreading over 20,000 acres of land in the Pengerang Integrated Petroleum Complex (PIPC) project, including Refinery and Petrochemical Integrated Development (RAPID). These projects forced PTG Johor to identify the critical points that would be able to greatly reduce the time taken in completing one land acquisition process, without bypassing or contradicting any stipulated laws, down to a minimum of 2 months from the gazetted date. This achievement was a result from its exceptional management method and its willingness to embrace innovative ideas and instil critical thinking culture among its staff.
